Maddie Turner, Associate Coordinator of Communications and Development
Maddie was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and comes from a long lineage of San Franciscans.
Maddie got her start in politics in 2018 when she served as an intern to Congressman Mark DeSaulnier in his Walnut Creek district office. Additionally, during 2020, Maddie acted as an Advocacy and Outreach Intern at the Trust Women Foundation. She supported their virtual fundraising efforts.
Maddie has conducted extensive research into Detroit’s policing history and policies. She has published her own report on precinct violence during the Civil Rights Era. She applied this knowledge in her internship at the San Francisco Department of Police Accountability where she aided active investigations into police misconduct.
Maddie interned at Evinco Strategies, a full-service political consulting firm through the American Association of Political Consultants Internship Program. She supported the digital, general consulting, and finance teams and worked with various clients including local candidates and nonprofit organizations.
Maddie received her bachelor’s in Political Science with a minor in History of Law and Policy from the University of Michigan. While at school, she was active in College Democrats, helping turn Michigan blue in the 2020 election.
Following graduation, Maddie moved to Teruel, Spain to teach English and American Culture to both high school students and adults. She then moved back home to enter the San Francisco political community.
